Honestamente… estava à espera de outra história. Não me conseguiu agarrar logo no início, apesar de mais para o fim já chamar um pouco mais atenção.

I’m surprised this book has as many good reviews as it does. The premise is solid, most of how it’s carried out is good. However the writing is super corny and unpleasant to sit through. I thought it was an easy read but after seeing “retweet” and “bruh” I found myself counting the pages until the chapter was finally over. I thought that maybe I am not the target audience, but I am in fact a young queer who recently moved to a large city, and was excited for it to be relevant to me. However it seems to be mainly millennial humor. Myla is my personal enemy as she carried most of the cringey lines herself. I stayed since the plot seemed generally good, but the writing style really took me out of it. I like the inclusion of modern technology, as its plot relevant, but there is a right way to do it and it certainly isn’t this way.

be still my beating lesbian heart… this was so damn cute!!!! every single character was bursting with colour and personality, and i love them all so much my little gay new york babies. the writing style was way better than i was expecting, so alive and real, it felt like watching a movie in my head. the romance is absolutely heart melting and totally not relatable at all no sir i don’t know what you’re talking about i definitely don’t have a hard time confessing when i have a crush. even though the premise is a bit…. shall we say outside the box?, it still made for a very heartfelt and fun story. i don’t care that it made no sense, psychics are real, and these girls managed to fuck on public transportation several times and not contract any diseases. now that’s what i call gay liberation

"Here they are. Two sets of sneakers on a scrap of metal. Two girls in the middle of a hurricane, tearing down the line. She's looking up at Jane, and Jane's looking down at her, and August feels her everywhere, even the places she's not touching, pressed close as the world roars on."
This book is both an absolute delight and a sad, tender exploration of queer history and trauma. It's less romance-heavy than I was expecting, but I actually really loved the mystery and magical realism elements and how everything came together (and did like the romance a lot too!). There's also SUCH a brilliant cast of side characters and loads of great commentary and important themes being explored.
It's definitely toxic of me but I was slightly underwhelmed/disappointed by the ending and wished things had taken a bit of a different direction or at least not been tied up so nicely - BUT I still just loved the reading experience so much overall and this story and its characters will definitely stay with me <3

Couldn’t finish. Written a bit chaotically and with YA language for me. Cool concept though!
