pretty inconsistent pacing throughout and it took me a while to connect to the characters. i was almost 100% sure i was gonna dnf the series until the last 50ish pages. I am excited for the next one but hoping its a smoother read.

DNF. It started out really well but I just could not force myself to slog through all the BS in the middle to find out what happens. I didn't care all that much about Aurelia tbh. If you want to read a spectacular retelling of The Goose Girl, try Intisar Khanani's Thorn instead.

I wasn't really wowed by this book. The writing style was good, flowing easily, and making scenes blend together beautifully, but the personalities of the characters and the world building were lacking. The love between the characters was missing emotion , just uninspiring. The plot was very predictable and the mystery of evilness was easily solved. I felt like this could have been great but unfortunately I was left wanting... well more. I will be reading Smith's second book Greythorne in hopes that this series debut will be redeemed with what was missing here.

Mezi všemi young adult knihami tahle vyniká svou fantasy stránkou. Díky Krvavému lístku jsem si uvědomila, jak moc samotný žánr fantasy zbožňuju a měla bych ho zase začít víc číst. Tady šlo totiž především o magii, která navíc dávala smysl. Do knihy jsem se začetla hned od první strany, ale mnohem víc se to rozjelo až v druhé části. A upřímně mi nejdřív vůbec nedocházelo, že čtu retelling o princezně husopasce.
V jednu chvíli jsem autorku proklínala, protože mi málem ukápla slzička. Ale to se vám zřejmě nestane, jen já jsem totiž taková citlivka. Pokud máte plné zuby těch běžných a ničím nezajímavých příběhů, rozhodně byste měli dát Krvavému lístku šanci.
