I love how this book is diverting from the show. I’m so curious to see where it goes from here!

Are you so blind, or is it that you do not wish to see? What do you think will happen when all these enemies are dead?

This book was a little repetetive in the first couple of chapters as you seem to experience the same things you have already read from another persons point of view. After that however the story really develops and I like the direction this story is going.

Another outstanding entry into the Song of Ice and Fire series, with one more book to read (at the moment).

This follows Danaerys, Jon Snow, Tyrion and a few other characters (plus some new ones) as they try and fight, and die, for the Iron Throne. This section involves a lot of pieces moving, with each character making seemingly small decisions that could impact massively in the next book.

I'm also intrigued by the host of new characters. Quentyn Martell is an interesting piece in the Dornish game. Young Griff and Old Griff is an entirely new storyline, and allows us to see a different part of the world. We spend most of our time in the Free Cities, and the world has grown so much.

July 2017:
"Got" a lot more in this second reading. Still love it.

June 2016:
Wow! What keeps me coming back for more is the characters in this epic story. To me, they are 'real' characters: they have ambitions, they are affected by their relationships, by what happens to them and by the choices they make.
There are a lot of threads and I feel I really need to go back to the start and pay *lots* more attention to the details! But, what a ride! it won't be boring re-reading !
And a random thought: Dany's leadership and compassion to her people reminds me strongly of Lady Diana. Anyone else?
