Caitlin is returning home to Cornwall from Europe. Her boyfriend Luke treated her badly and she's feeling angry, emotional and vulnerable. She excepts a lift from a family; Marcus, his wife Mimi and their daughters Henna and Daisy. They are friendly and caring and Caitlin takes to them immediately.
Marcus and Mimi suggest Caitlin come home with them, she can tutor the girls. Caitlin is in no hurry to go home and accepts. The family live in the Gloucestershire countryside; it's pretty remote and isolated. They appear to live a rather hippy lifestyle. Mimi helps vulnerable women and Marcus has polytunnels he's always busy with. On the surface life is idyllic but gradually the cracks begin to show, there is something quite off about Marcus and Mimi and Caitlin realises she may have made a huge mistake.
Set during the early part of the pandemic; Stay is deeply unsettling and covers some very sensitive issues. The first half of the book is a slow burner; the tension builds gradually. By the ending it's quite frantic. At times I wanted to shake Caitlin but I also rooted for her. I enjoyed it but not as much as "Sorry isn't good enough" which I absolutely adored.

Struggling with how I feel about this one. While it was Intense & twisty, there were too many poor & unrealistic decisions made by the main character. There needed to be more twists or intense events.
Also some editorial mistakes made it hard to follow a few times ( like using the wrong character name)
It’s a shame because it really could have been great.

What a read!!
I can say I didn't like this chick! But you can't fault her, she is only 19!! But she did alot of things wrong! But all her wrongs helped her save 2 kids!
The book was soo good!!! Loved it from beginning to end!!

Caitlin ran away to Italy for adventure but after learning about her father's affair she falls out with her boyfriend and heads home. Unable to face going back she decides so stay with the family who give her a lift, a last minute decision to stay with them during lock down ends in a nightmare.
All the references to hands and folksongs got quite annoying and really detracted from the story along with the throw away lines referring to mystery future events
I did not really warm to any of the characters and the plot is incredibly slow, it was a hard slog to reach the end but it was worth it as the ending is great
