I think this book would have been great if it had been like 300 pages shorter and cut out all the plot about the magician competition and just was cool descriptions of this awesome circus.

the book has the typical romantasy issues. are the characters particularly deep? not really. Is the lovestory told and not shown, without being properly build up? definitely. Is it also way too sappy? yes, again. but im completely ignoring all of that, just because im obsessed with the way the story is written. the time jumps, the perspective shifts, the random thiessen extracts and, my personal favourite, the second person pov. It is very well done on a technical level and youre confused for the perfect amount of time, before you understand how it all ties in together. Obviously the descriptions are amazing too, but that would have not been enough to get me to rate it so good despite it being a romantasy. The different perspectives really convinced me. (also I was so hangover while reading the entire book in one go, that the letters literally started dancing and wobbling and changing colours, which really added to the experience)
