I really enjoyed the slice of life style of this book and how the lives of these new yorkers came together. But it did take me a minute to get into. The pacing felt really slow in the first part, then it felt like it picked up for me later.

The Irish still got it, re: storytelling, and I say that as a German. Bleak, magical, great characters, bleak again...but with an element of redemption, even optimism by the end. The point being, I guess, that the great world goes on spinning no matter how much you mess up your own little life. Yay?
