This may have been relaxant 60 years ago but in current time this doesn’t work , even though racism and fights for equality still exist. Couldn’t emotionally connect. Characters were annoying and selfish. Writing was good.

A very strong 4 stars! What a simply told but meaningful play. It leaves an impression that isn’t often possible in such a short work. I wish we could have even more story about these characters. Hansberry had a clear sense of what she set out to achieve with this work, and she managed it. I admire the emotion and sardonicism and awareness that went into the play. Somehow, it’s a story that’s been told several times and it’s one of the original works on the subject, yet the author makes it entirely her own.

Iconic play. I really liked the story line and how timeless it feels. It was relevant then and will continue to be relevant.

It’s the kind of story that afterwards you wanna know more. I was mad at the son/father often and that probably proves that I fit that female role that it portrays.
