This is part of the Smartypants romance series which is connected to the Winston brothers series by Penny Reid.
This series is based on the ex girlfriends of Jethro Winston.
Good story.
Well written.
Grumpy Hero.
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Small other man drama and small history revealed between Jethro and the heroine.
HEA.

The Treble with Men is the second book in the Scorned Women’s Society series by Piper Sheldon. It follows the lives of Kim (Christine) and Devlin. It quite frankly is one way of best books I have read... ever!

Piper Sheldon’s writing yet again drew me in and I was hooked from the first chapter. I was throughly intrigued by all the little twists and turns that this book took. I honestly did not want to put this book down. The characters are well written, the story is excellent.

If you are looking to read something sweet, about two complex, yet wonderful characters. Mixed with some incredibly funny moments, then this book is for you, and even if you don’t... give this book a go, it is fantastic!

This book could have been brilliant. It was just good. The reason I'm saying that is as much as I enjoyed the story and the of course I loved the Green Valley world and nearly everyone in it, Christine frustrated me for a lot of this book. This offshoot series is supposed to be about badass women doing badass things after an inauspicious start in life, but Kim just...like I said I felt a lot of frustration toward her that wasn't resolved until very late on.

I can't/won't go into details because spoilers and things, but I would not advise people away from The Treble With Men, especially if they like books heavily influenced by not only The Phantom Of The Opera, but classical music in general.

I really enjoyed this book! I loved how you could see that Phantom of the Opera was an inspiration for this book. It grabbed my attention right away! I loved Devlin and Kim together. I also loved that there was no long drawn out drama!

The Treble With Men shows us that starting over can result in a beautiful symphony! Trying to overcome a past you're not quite proud of, is hard to do when someone who knows your secrets comes back into your life. I just finished Grin and Beard It, so I was very excited to dive into Kim's story after reading Jethro's version of things. This story was so much deeper than I was expecting, bringing me to near tears several times. I was captivated from the first page and couldn't put it down until I finished. I loved the back story and how the many webs that were strung, unraveled. A beautifully crafted tale of following your heart, especially not at the expense of your own happiness. This is definitely a must-read for any fan of the Winston Brothers!

There are books that stick to your soul, the moment you start reading. They melt into your mind, your heart, sticking to the part of you that loves a good story.

This book has stuck itself to my soul. The Treble With Men is a story of love, anxiety, facing your fears, letting go of the past and going after your future. It's about two people finding each other and bringing out the best in themselves. It's a love letter to music and the power it holds. A gorgeous, soulful, heart-wrenching and uplifting tale.

It's also a loose Phantom of the Opera retelling. I've never seen the musical, read the book or really heard any of the songs, but I know the story through cultural osmosis. It was fun seeing all of the nods and ways Sheldon took the original and twisted and shaped it to make her own wonderful story. She made me love something I have never cared about before, kudos.

Kim and Devlin will be with me for the rest of my life

(ARC REVIEW) This is the story of two people (Maestro and hidden-virtuoso) who have to learn to take of their masks (literal and figurative) in order to truly understand how to love and be loved in returned.

The book is laid out much like one of Devlin's compositions, with soaring highs and devestating lows, all held together with love, family, bits of humor, and pent up emotions. You do have to suspend belief just a little over the masked "devil of the symphony" situation but once you get over that its smooth sailing.

Green Valley was only a minor character this time, but we did get a Jethro scene so it's always a plus when a Winston stops by. Highly recommended- 4.5/5 stars!

Disclaimer: An eARC was provided via Smartypants Romance and the Author in exchange for an honest review. The Thoughts, opinions & feelings expressed in the review are therefore, my own.

The Treble with Men is a re-imagining of the Phantom of the Opera – something I didn’t realise until I was halfway through the book (mostly cause I am not exactly a fan of the original *shrugs*)

Our protagonists; both of them infact; are actually trying to live a lie; mostly to escape a past they believe has defined who they are to the world and a past they couldn’t outrun, no matter how hard they tried.

Kim Ddae, who goes by Christine Day now, blends into the background now; and that’s exactly how she likes it. She is invisible as the fourth chair cellist in SOOK, and that’s all she wants; her music and her invisibility.

When the recently hired maestro, the masked Devlin (who wears a bandana covering half his face, to protect his identity!), approaches Christine to work with him on his new composition – she is not only shocked; but also intrigued even if it scares the bajeesus out of her.

The romance between Kim and Devlin is quite sizzling, mysterious and the perfect kind of slow burn romance that I have had the pleasure of reading in recent times – trust me, if you love slow burn romances, you would know that there is art to writing a slow burn romance & Piper Sheldon shows that she promise of writing one that would make readers fall for her writing even more!

(I require a little violence against actual villains; at least a punch that puts him on the ground) was a little iffy for me; it was Kim and Devlin’s relationship and the way they came back together in that sweet climax was just the balm my soul needed <3
