This is the perfect early/middle YA thriller! I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for adults because it’s fairly simple and obvious if you’re an adult reader of thrillers/mysteries, but I totally want my girls to read this when they’re in their early teens. Even so, i did genuinely enjoy this as a quick one-day read and i think the pacing and dispensing of information was perfect and i can see this as a great, natural series moving forward.

I would consider this book to be a scientific thriller based science fiction elements. I found it to be a fast-paced, enjoyable read with reference to my favourite childhood anime. I loved the representation of black girls in the cosplay fandom space. Based on the book's ending, it left me with a lot of questions and definitely leaves room for the author to write a sequel if she ever decides to.
