I was thoroughly kept intrigued throughout this book, only to be rather disappointed at the end. Maybe that's the point, we don't all get that satisfying revenge we want, sometimes it's just bleak and dark. So although ambiguous endings usually irritate me the hell out of me, this really worked! I liked the unhappy ending.
I absolutely loved the different POVs and was waiting to see how they were tied together and it didn't disappoint, even some fun timelines involved which I'm always down for.
Can't say I really connected with the characters that much, I didn't particularly care about any of them, neither the less, I was shocked at most of their deaths!
We don't know much about the apocalypse per say, but enough to have an understanding of the situation for each character.
The sense of isolation from all 3 POVs was great, both physically and mentally, I felt drab and alone just reading it.
I'd be interested to read some crime novels from the same author as the pacing and scenarios felt very reminiscent of crime thrillers.

This book initially drew me in, but unfortunately, the ending left me feeling unsatisfied. There were just too many characters to keep up with and a lack of clarity in navigating between the past and present perspectives. It wasn't until almost the end of the story that I realized the dual timelines, leaving me confused about how these characters would eventually intertwine in the plotline. While the storylines did eventually merge, was it convincing enough or well done? I don't think so. The narrative lacked a clear focus and directions, which made it difficult to stay engaged.
While I am not averse to gore and horror elements, the writing style failed to resonate with me. The excessive use of curse words and the inclusion of insensitive topics, such as fatphobic and racial statements, left me questioning their relevance to the overall plot. These elements seemed gratuitous and did not contribute meaningfully to the story, making me wonder why they were introduced in the first place.
This book had the potential to be a gripping tale for me, but the plot structure and the unnecessary inclusion of offensive statements ultimately affect the overall reading experience.
QUOTES THAT I LIKE:
'They say you can't put a price on life, but they do, all the time.'
'The biggest lies are the ones we tell ourselves.'
'At the start, there is simply relief at being alive. Worry about the situation follows. Still, at that point, most people are united in a common goal. Survival. But the longer the crisis, the more survival turns inwards. 'We' becomes 'I'. As that happens, resentment and arguments occurs.'

This is so generically dystopian, it's almost sad. A barely-described virus and its vaccine come across as an tropey take on Covid, and even though this wasn't intentional, it's hard to read about the "whistlers" and not think of the "clickers" from The Last of Us. Every part of this is way more convoluted than it is enjoyable.

if it’s a murder mystery set in a snowstorm, rest assured, i’m reading it, and i’m so glad that i did. the drift is the first thriller i’ve read in a looong time with multiple plot twists that had my jaw on the floor, and i love love love the closed door aspect of each pov. while it was a liiittle confusing at first to keep all of the characters straight, tudor did such a great job making them all distinct enough that within a few chapters, it required little to no effort. also, i think i just didn’t read the synopsis well enough, but due to that, finding out there were multiple povs set during a plague/pandemic/apocalypse was so intriguing. to top allllllll of this^ off, the humor was so good too! tudor really did her big one with this book. round of applause
