Daddy Calls Me Man is about a boy who takes his life experiences and role he has played and turns them into poems. The poems follow him along with the roles he has played as younger brother, older brother, mommy's sweetheart, and daddy's man. I would offer this book for all of the students. This would be a great book for a student expecting a new sibling or a father and son book.

This book goes through different aspects of a little boy's life. I love that it displays a happy family dynamic, and I love that it explains different parts of his culture. I think this could be used to help students in my classroom feel seen and understood.
