I'm going back and listening to the Harry Potter audio books again. The first time I ever listened to these, I owned them on some ancient technology called "cassette tapes" and listened to them in the car on the eight-hour drive to Iowa to visit my sister. Now that I've been clearing all of this clutter out of my home, I've slowly began the process of switching to MP3s of these stories.

The narration is voiced by the wonderfully talented Jim Dale, whom I fell in love with when he played P.T. Barnum in the Broadway musical, "Barnum." He's wonderful because he has true "speech and debate" voices (anyone on a high school speech team in the last decade will understand that reference) for each character in the book - not just a slight pitch variation, but a true unique characterization for each one! You get totally drawn into the story and his subtleties with the dialogue sometimes make me laugh out loud.

The stories themselves have been reviewed many times over, so I won't bother with that here, except to say that if you've ever hesitated to get involved in reading them, you wouldn't do badly to just pop the Jim Dale versions in your ears, leaving your hands free while you're tooling around the house or driving down the highway. These books opened up a whole world of audio books I didn't even know existed, and for that I am truly grateful!

What a wonderful sequel this is. The story has its humor, its red herrings, and an eventual final battle. I am looking forward to reading the third book of the series
