Wasn’t too sure about this one in the beginning, took me a bit to get used to the narration but was pretty hooked by the end. Definitely reminds me of throne of glass a bit.

DID NOT FINISH: 6%

It just didn't grip me and I couldn't get into it. The character names were ridiculous and seemed like they were trying too hard to be 'fantasy'.... Didn't seem well written.

Promising start, but the plot, characters and overall story fell a little short of the mark when compared to other books in the same genere.

The foundation, tropes, world building, found family, magic system and relationship between the main characters need more work.

The pacing is good, as is the romantic tension, but the female lead is a little annoying!

Overall, enjoyable and entertaining.

Promising plot and characters but overall the story fell through. The foundation and essential tropes are there but everything else (from the world building, found family, magic system and relationship between the main characters) needs to be majorly fleshed out more.

One thing I absolute cannot stand was the push and pull between the fmc and mmc. Enemies to lovers is a gradual shift, it should grow on you. Their attraction was like flipping the switch constantly—yes no yes no yes no🙂‍↕️🙂‍↔️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↔️🙂‍↕️🙂‍↔️

But I like how certain characters are k!lled off once they have served their purpose—lesser names for me to remember😂 I’ll still read the next book since I’ve already bought it but tbh it wouldn’t be high up on my tbr. If book 2 is still subpar, I’ll dnf this series🤡
