Uhm did I read the same book as everyone else?
This book was awful. I don’t even want to put the energy into explaining why. The only reason I finished it was because I bought the audiobook and felt like I had to get my money’s worth.

I started this thinking oh gosh here we go here’s another predictable Romantasy story. And in SOME ways it was. But I was also pleasantly surprised with some of the twists in this, even if I did predict most of them.
This had an interesting reverse take on a popular book trope. I can’t say what that is because it would ruin the ending. But it was fabulous.
I loved this and will immediately go to the sequel.

i was trying to find a fun fantasy read and rhis was thatttt.
it follows prisca who is one of the corrupt. she has magic where she can stop time. when it is discvered that shes one of the corrupt she has to run from her village and she meets a group of mercenaries who help her but in exchange for her to use her power to help them. one of the mercenaries lorian helps her w her magic. she then has to go the castle to free the other corrupt people and yeah.
prisca is a solid fmc like she isnt annoying and is honestly a baddie.
lorian is so mysteruous i love it.
this is such a slowburn but im excited to see where it goes.
the smut was minimal but pretty good.

Whilst I was expecting a 5 star read, this book confused me sometimes. The pace was fast, then slow, some bits drew me in completely and others I had to force myself to read through. Sometimes I loved the characters and other times they annoyed me. Overall this book had great promise, but the pacing threw it off for me, it felt like some parts were dragged out, and meant I didn't enjoy it as much as possible.
