It's been a long time since I could not put a book down. A beautifully complicated love story. I am glad that I have not seen season two of the series, because the reading of this was so vivid it played on the screen of my mind and heart. I am going to Cornwall soon and the trip was planned before I discovered Poldark. It is an ancestral home for me and I picture my many greats living there in Elizabethan times. The place names and surnames come up in my genealogy and I feel such a connection. But for all that, I would not feel this way about Cornwall if Graham did not write in such a way that touches my emotions and senses.

After reading the fourth instalment in the Poldark saga, Warleggan, I can stand by my statement that this series gets better and better with each book. The stakes are raised. The losses are more painful. I grow to love (and hate – looking at you, Ross) the characters more and more. The plot throws more twists and turns at the reader. The writing is consistently powerful and so beautiful. I cried while reading it. Love this book, my favourite of the series so far.
This book was a lot of me going, "What kind of fuckery is this???" And then frowning. A lot.

I had a feeling the last 3 books were building to something that I would really disliked. Ross was a insufferable selfish brooding jerk the entire book and wrapped it up by being a rapey jerk who then convinces his wife she's the whore.
That being said the audio is still really enjoyable to listen to and I will probably give the next book a try if the narrator is the same....
