Fantastic

Given the 3 year gap between this book and the last, I took the opportunity reread the previous books. Rowan is badass as always and Wrath of the Goddess is a fantastic addition to the series. I have just pre-ordered the next!

fun but repetitive

some gleaming moments in here and it’s certainly a fast read, but it’s hard to connect to a character who says the same thing every book. i can see some areas of character growth, but overall it feels somewhat shallow - a solid 3 star book and series.

For some reason unknown to me, I had missed this fifth volume of the series, a series that I then really like. So when I realized this, I immediately ran for cover despite having already read the later ones. In this book there is the meeting between Darius and Genevieve that will then lead to the interesting developments that follow, and for that alone it would be worth it. We also have a lot of interactions between Rowan and Clive, which I kind of miss in the later books, centered as they are on other characters, so as late as I am, I am very glad I went back and read this novel.

Just ho-hum. Nothing much happens and nothing that interesting, but it's not bad. The crew heads to LA to track down the folks who killed their buddies. The very usual mayhem. Hopefully the next book will be a bit more novel and energetic.

A book which concludes the long plot started in the previous books

A book which picks up after the horrible ending of the previous book ... And unfortunately, the losses are not over for Rowan (including two which made me so sad ...)

We finally have a certain number of answers at the end of this book which concludes the intrigue of the famous conspiracy against the established order and I loved seeing Genevieve but also the Devil Dust a little more in detail (I really like them and loved seeing them have their own book !)

However, a few downsides in this book : I had the impression that the book was a little repetitive (I had the impression that it was the same story as in the other books but also the chapters seemed repetitive ...), I'm less attached to the Rowan / Clive relationship (they're cute but I have the impression that it's always Clive who has to compromise but never Rowan and she overreacts a little too much whereas Clive never questions her authority !) and I was a little disappointed with the identity of the villain who was almost banal in the end ><

In short, a nice book to read but I liked it less than the previous ones ... I might read the rest later !

3.5 Stars

It's the first one I read in this series and I'm very happy I requested it because it was a great discovery.
I liked the world building, the well written characters and the style of writing.
This is an engaging and entertaining book, a page turner that you cannot put down.
I look forward to reading other books in this series.
Recommended!
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine.

An enjoyable read, but it didn’t wow me, just felt a bit unfulfilled after it. Like you had an ok meal but we’re still hungry. It was entertaining enough it just seemed to lack something I couldn’t put my finger on.

Good but not great.
