It was a good book. I wasn’t super into it, but I mean, that was just me. Look out world! Recently I have been more reluctant to give out 4 and 5 star ratings. I just read this book because it was a quick read and sort of a palet cleanser after the previous book I read. Nothing in this really sparked my interest.

Seventh grade does not start well for Mysti Murphy. Her only friend has decided he wants to be a hipster, and he vacillates between ignoring her and being nasty. Mysti's mother is agoraphobic, and hasn't left the house in seven years. They were able to get along since Mysti's father took care of everything that needed to be done outside, including shopping for food and clothing. When he falls out of a tree, there is suddenly no one to run errands or drive Mysti and her younger sister anywhere. How can Mysti keep things running smoothly at home and manage her tough seventh grade year at school? It will take all kinds of courage to make it through. Recommended for grades 5-8.

I love all the characters in this book especially Mysti. She is a strong girl and the backbone of her family. It touched me how such a young little girl like her could be so mature beyond her age. She possesses all the qualities that I could ever ask for in my future daughter (if I had one hehe). I borrowed this book through Libby, but after reading it, I decided to buy one (for my daughter(?) to read of course) lol

This is a great book about a young girl dealing with a mother who is afraid to leave the house, a father who is injured, and the journey she faces in finding the courage to be who she is and help her family. This was a spectacular book.

Funny. Beautifully written. Bit sad, but a "good sad" (not sure if that makes sense but if you read it maybe you know what I mean?) Didn't know if I'd like it at first but ended up loving it. Also glad Agoraphobia seemed to be portrayed correctly.

Not bad. At first when I started I wasn’t really into it. But as I read more and more I ended up not being able to put the book down and…possibly read it in one sitting. There’s one part in the book that may or maybe not have broke my heart into little pieces but :D. However, the tone of the younger characters are a little off. It’s like how an adult thinks the younger generation speaks these days. But overall not bad.

I think this was one of those cases of either not reading the book at the right time (because I seem to be in more of a dystopian/fantasy mood) or I'm just not the right reader for this book. Anyway, I couldn't believe that Mysti fell for her friend's schemes for so long, or that her mother was so not into trying (although perhaps that is realistic.) I read this because the kids asked me to, so we'll see what they think!
