You know, I have to fight myself to NOT give this series all 5 stars, because I'm currently obsessed with it... and I think that's clouding my judgement.. lol. I'm taking a breather from these for a bit, but if they're still living rent free inside my brain in a few months, I think I'll bump them all I'll to 5s.
Witches, monsters, smut, war, emotional whiplash, traitors and snakes... man... Amelia has done an AMAZING job building the Nine Realms AND all the characters included. I just realized books 6 &7 aren't even out yet, so now I need to pace myself before I reach the end of book 5 and have a panic attack or breakdown or something...

I had an extremely difficult time with Knox’s bipolar attitude to the point where I almost DNF’d multiple times. I think the spice was the only thing keeping me going through most of it. Every time you think Knox is going to start treating aria better he ends up giving you whiplash that ruins the moment. While this is the whole point of their story, it’s over the top for me and almost too much. That being said, the reveal at the end saved this book for me and I will be reading the next.

Ok so Book 3. I 100% thought going into these books that this was a trilogy. It became clear about halfway through the book that there would be more books. Which overall I think is a good thing, it means the story is getting the time it deserves, but ahhh! I wasn't ready for 2 more books.
This book was a rollercoaster. From Knox's hot to cold demeanor to not quite knowing what was going on with Aria. I don't know how I feel about it all. I enjoyed the book a lot, but I did feel like I was getting some whiplash. I was also a little confused as to what was going on with Aria, was she still trying to escape? Was she not? I get it now, that everything she was doing was for her greater plan, but for a while there, that plan wasn't discussed at all, and all of a sudden, boom, it was there again, like there had never been a question of her motives. That threw me a bit and I feel like it could have been fleshed out a bit better, so that the reader still understood where she stood. I don't know, just my thoughts.
You do see Knox grow in this book, I think more so than the others, but then wham, he regresses 500 steps. And I get that is because of his grief, but I guess, I just thought maybe he would grow out of that a bit more. But hey, there's still 2 more books.
Also, not as many grammar/punctuation/word errors in this book either! Which I think is a huge step forward for the author. Now, if I had my way, I'd ask her to re-do books 1-3 with a real editor because I think it could really up the quality of the books and bring them to that 5 star level.
Onto book 4!
