This book was so engaging and so happy and sad and showed how complicated love is. The best part was Jeannette’s relationship with her dad, and her maturing from an innocent kid who always believed into her dad to becoming more understanding of him good and bad.

This was an interesting memoir, but I honestly liked I’m Glad My Mom Died and Educated more than this one. 3.5 stars

Shares such an interesting family’s life story and horrible abuse in such a matter-of-fact even “lighthearted” way. Well-written—expresses the love and loyalty the family had despite their blatant lack of basic care/needs.
