I don't know how to feel about this book. I speculated all sorts of things
such as time travel causing the virus or jellyfish/octopus aliens. I guess I was correct about the alien part.. but the ending was not as satisfying as I thought it would be.
My favorite chapters were the one about the euthanasia park and the pig.

A masterpiece - tackled the complexity of grief overtop an epic tale.

I want to give it 3 stars for how mediocre this was but it actually annoyed me way too much, so one star for you. This type of speculative fiction is one of my least favourite genres and I hereby vow to avoid it in the future.

It takes a long time to get into each story, and not every vignette impacted me, but those that did made me bawl my eyes. The City of Laugheter especially made me cry on the street. That one and a few others are five⭐.

I like the concept and it was working for me as an audiobook generally. I’m just not excited to keep listening so I’m moving on
