Beautiful series, I loved all three books in their own right, thought they were so vastly different from one another.

With Octavia butler, being my absolute favorite author, this is my absolute favorite book written by her. I love the world building. She creates how she can make you simultaneously love and hate the same character. The sadness and desperation, her writing evokes. This book had everything. it put on display all of humanity‘s faults. But also had hope.

The book was intellectually challenging due to its exploration of ethics as it relates to humans and aliens co-existing, providing no right answer and many uncomfortable moments.

I appreciate the character descriptions and the inclusion of both human and alien racial diversity.

And the entire society that Bulter created is impressive! I had to refer to a wiki to remind myself of who’s who.

I would not endure reading it again but it was altogether fascinating.

Is this book an exploration of “compassionate”eugenics? That’s what it felt like at times, which is super super uncomfortable to read.
