First book of the year: check! So glad I was given this book because it is such a great resource for starting a podcast. I do still feel a bit overwhelmed, but I have such a clearer guideline now for how to get started and move forward from the steps I (and my cohost!) have already taken to create one. I definitely feel like making this happen in 2020 is possible now!

This was a fantastic book! I’ve been noodling around starting a podcast and read a few other podcasting books and articles before this came out. I’ve listened to the author for years on her podcasts and was early awaiting the release of her book. It covers all of the parts of podcasting that I was struggling with: how to narrow down and frame an idea, choosing a structure, how to promote a podcast, how to syndicate. This isn’t a technical book, but I wasn’t looking for that - I think the actual audio editing is best learned in person or through videos.

A great book that explains what goes into the career side of a podcast. Everything from asking you why you want to begin one, if you really have a good concept, to marketing and promotion. Think of this as a book you would read if you were researching the career itself.

The author lets you know in the introduction that she does not use this book to go into the how-to's of the technology and equipment used. She states what you will need to get started but leaves it up to you to do the research (but does give a few recommendations to give you a starting point).

A really great book for anyone thinking about doing a podcast, but also a great read if you are just curious about the world of podcasts.

I like the approachable and friendly tone that exists throughout this book. I was already familiar with Kristen Meinzer from the By the Book Podcast, and her voice definitely comes through. The chapters are very short, with clear titles, and there is also an index. I read this straight through, but as I think about podcasting, it will be easy for me to go back and refer to certain topics without wondering where they are in the book.

I borrowed this book from the library because I was curious about the podcasting process. I am in awe of people that have the technological skills to manage something like this (I can barely run this blog!

Great book giving good all round guidance for anyone wanting to start a podcast. This isn't a technical guide, you won't learn how to edit audio. But you will get lots of top tips, things to go research and a grounding in all the strategy you need for podcast production.

Better than I thought it would be. Some really great practical advice here, from someone who has created, produced and hosted many podcasts, both in podcast networks and individually distributed. I now know I'm not going to start a podcast. I'm more of a blogger than a talker.
