Very dark and twisty, loved just as much as the first instalment.

I hope that ending means there'll be more from this series. I loved this book, another can't - put - down read. I've been thinking about the story between reading and hoping for more chances to read through my day - very unlike me. And now I'm gonna need to read Frozen Charlotte again!! It'll be interesting to note the similarities.

I was sent an advanced proof copy of this book (thank you, Stripes publishing) and I read it as part of a 24 hour readathon that I completed to raise money for charity. I had read Frozen Charlotte (last halloween) when it was included in the second round of the WHSmith Zoella Book Club. It was a great book and even though I hate scary books and films, I enjoyed it. I was excited to hear there was going to be a prequel book to tell us about the origins of these Frozen Charlotte dolls and I fell right into this book as soon as I picked it up. I made sure to read it during the day, so I didn't freak myself out like last time, but I honestly couldn't put it down. I loved it. I think I actually prefered it to the first book because I loved the characters so much (especially Henry, I'm in love with him). I actually did a review for this book over on my YouTube channel, so if you're interested in seeing that, you can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00K2c_1M6IE

Frozen Charlotte was easily the creepiest of the original run of Red Eye books. Charlotte Says surpasses it. In the original it didn't matter *why* the dolls were evil, they just were. This one shows their origin and it makes them even more terrifying. I read this in one go on the hottest night of the year and I was still freezing by the end. The tension just never lets up, and the little nods to Frozen Charlotte were very clever and never felt out of place. I'll definitely read anything else Alex Bell writes. But maybe not at night...

I read Frozen Charlotte a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it, so I had high expectations for Charlotte Says. It did not disappoint. I actually think I liked this one more because of the historical aspect; Frozen Charlotte goes back and forth between historical period and present day.

This had so many elements that ticks off all my fall/spooky season boxes. The setting is Isle of Skye in the dead of winter. An old girls industrial school. Horrid maids and schoolmistress. Everything described as cold, cold, cold. This was so delightfully creepy, horrific and eerie. I loved it! The writing was was very descriptive which only added to the horror of the story. If you enjoyed Frozen Charlotte, or are just looking for a great read for the upcoming Halloween season, I highly recommend this book.

Just as good as the first .
So this is just the prequel and I did really want to know what happened to the frozen Charlotte dolls after the first book but.... I couldn’t ask for more within this backstory of a totally original book .
Crazy characters , tingling chills the list goes on , Alex bell succeeds yet again with this brilliant backstory to frozen Charlotte!
