I’ll be honest: when I first realized that we were staying with Chaol, Nesryn, and Yrene throughout the book instead of continuing the drama of what last occurred with Aelin and the rest of the gang, I was a little disappointed. Chaol has never been my favorite character and I was dreading having to get through 650 pages of his story. And it did take me a little bit to get into it, but not very long, and then I was hooked. I ended up really enjoying and caring about the new royals introduced, I loved Yrene, and this was such a perfect way of continuing the overall plot but not solely focused on Aelin’s experiences. There was so much hope by the end of it all, then to have the quick Fireheart chapter at the end to tie you back into Aelin’s story left me wanting so much more. I cannot wait for the next book and to continue this story.

4.5 stars, a beautiful love story in this fantasy world. I loved the expansion of the world and characters this book had to offer. I preferred it over EOS. I did do the tandem read.

This book existing perfectly encapsulates all of my gripes with this series. AND I can also recognize that this is her most well written and underrated book.

It’s not that tower of dawn is BAD because that plot twist at the end definitely got me but it’s such a different vibe and pace compared to all the other ones that it gets written off. Especially since there’s really only 3? 4? POVs in this book, nesryn yrene chaol for the most part, versus if you do the tandem read it’s like 6 characters all at the same time.
So the pacing is slow but the characters development is really important. Honestly reminded me a lot of nesta’s journey in ACOSF which bummed me out because chaol is whiny but nesta isn’t I love nests but. Anyway. You gotta read this book but I would have been so shook reading in real time as they came out and you want to know
how Aelin is but then boom CHAOL
