This is very nearly a wordless picture book--I think there are 3? sentences in the whole thing. It is the story of a grandma and her granddaughter who is visiting and the story of a flamingo that ties them together in a magical realism way. The artwork is gorgeous and if reading with a kid could prompt some cool analysis discussions. Recommend elementary and up.

Not completely wordless but in few words, this book tells the story of a little girl visiting her grandmother and bonding over a story of her grandmother's childhood when she rescued a baby flamingo. It's really beautiful and special and I haven't quite processed why - it's such a simple story -but I am still sitting with it. I love what the illustrator did with the story in pictures - the only thing that was confusing sometimes was the transition between flashback and present because the young version of the grandmother looked so much like her granddaughter in the present.

A sweet story with lovely art that makes for vivid storytelling, despite there being something like 5 sentences in the entire book. Recommended for ~k-3.

a cute quick read the story is mostly told through pictures and I think that's really cool and leave a lot of the story up to the imagination
