I’ve owned a copy of The Lord of the Rings since I was ten years old. I still remember the Christmas night that I opened it, surprised to see it in the small parlor at my old house. My cousin was smug, told me it was much longer and much better than Harry Potter. Annoyed, I refused to read the book, even though I did try once. Through the years, moving to a new house, reading many more books, this one stayed hidden on a closet shelf, gathering dust. Not sure how it happened, but the book fell apart. It’s so battered. Like it too journeyed through Middle-Earth and yet managed to stay together.

What can I say about my journey through Middle-Earth? The hobbits, elves, dwarf, wizard, and Ranger I came to adore as dear friends? What of the peril and grief, as well as suspense? Or the tears of sadness, the joys and triumphs, the voluminous lore of an ancient time, the magic, the beauty, the friendship? Tolkien carried me spellbound from the shire and back again. His elegant, exquisite portrait of this land and its histories. He clearly built this world from the ground up with the finest tools and materials.

There’s so much I loved, but one of my very favorite things was how we got to see everyone battle. Not just Frodo and Sam when the fellowship was separated, but Merry, Pippin, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli💘

Whatever good there is in the world can never be lost, not permanently.

I loved this adventure so much, and I can’t wait to tread its paths again.

The imagination of Tolkien is never-ending. I prefer the books to the films, the detail and loving care taken over building such a world is incredible. The songs and tales and all the characters, you'd be silly not to read these!

The story about The Lord of the rings is unique, fascinating, exciting in one word is AMAZING. So why this rating? Why two stars? Only because this story as to be read in an appropriate support: rigid cover, good paper and printer, some support to understand the path of the company of the ring... indeed I reviewing the book with the isbn: 9780007123810

The Road goes ever on and on,
down from the door where
it began...
Now far ahead the road has gone,
and I must follow, If I can.

The Lord of the Rings is epic and high in fantasy, adventure, world-building and language
.
It is one of the best fantasies out there, there's no denying. The imagination of Tolkien is vast and full of wonders and magical things.

For me though, the Hobbit, is a bit better as it has more of an adventurous feeling and it's full of fun and humour.

I also like to add something from Albert Einstein:

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world.”

One star for the lore and tales
Such songful windows into history.
One just for the song of Lúthien Tinúviel,
One for Tom Bombadil and his Goldberry.

One for the ents, searching for their wives,
They are anything but hasty.
The final star, for a most extraordinary life,
For master Samwise Gamgee.

I mean it's the grand daddy of all fiction and deserves that title. Amazing worldbuilding, beautiful characters, and the prose picks up so well in the later books.
