Chapter two, aphorism number six: "There is no instance of a country having benefited from prolonged warfare."

I would be deeply interested in seeing what a resurrected Sun Tzu would have to say to the US political administration, at any point during the last 60 years!

Read March 21, 2022, kept off reading schedule so it doesn't mess up my publication date chart :)

I read this one in PDF on my hand-held during commutes to and from work. One thing a reader needs to keep in mind is that the title is "The ART of War"... it is not "The SCIENCE of War".

I point this out, because it is mostly a discussion on the philosophy and management of conflict, particularly in terms of diplomacy, so that war is irrelevant. Waging war is an expensive business, and thus the smart leader seeks other means to ensure that when the fingers are at triggers, the fight is already over.

Very much enjoyed the read. It is a fascinating philosophy, and has a lot of applications even in our modern world. From business negotiations to office politics, to other dealings of power and position, there are lessons to be learned here.
