Not quite what I was expecting - I thought it would be more true crime. Instead the crimes are stated at the beginning of each essay and then the consequences to Chilean society are examined through the press, art, music, theater. How were the woman killers portrayed? Were there any long term effects? What was their ultimate fate?

Es un ensayo muy interesante sobre mujeres que matan en Chile y cómo se han tratado esos crímenes en el país. Es un libro muy feminista, que pone el foco en los estereotipos, la violencia de género, el encasillamiento de las mujeres en los roles aceptables como madres, como sumisas, que no pueden ser violentas y cómo se trata en el sistema penal –y en la construcción mediática– a estas mujeres criminales que no se entienden, que rompen moldes, que asustan.
Tiene cuatro capítulos, cada uno dedicado a una homicida: Corina Rojas, Rosa Faúndez, Carolina Geel y María Teresa Alfaro. Los casos son impactantes y el libro está muy bien escrito y muy bien documentado, hay mucha investigación detrás (fue la tesis doctoral de la autora). Muy recomendado.
