I was absolutely blown away by A Lady of Rooksgrave Manor and this sequel was an exceptional follow up story in this lush, eerie world. I find Kathryn’s writing really beautifully descriptive but not tedious or bloated.

I adored Hazel and all of her men. Each character and dynamic gets explored fully, I was attached to each and every demon. While this cast in new, the plot does follow from book 1, especially towards the end. I would recommend starting with book 1, but I do think this can be enjoyed as a standalone.

Top, top tier honestly can’t recommend this book or this series enough if you enjoy monster romance, historical romance and why choose.

Bro how was this even better than the first one??? Was convinced it could not possibly get better and to be fair this book is kinda surprisingly long for what it is (the only other smut book I’ve read that’s this long is probably some of Sophie Lark’s books cause some of hers are over 500 pages too I think) but that’s honestly probably my only even slight complaint - and I do think the page count makes sense given the content but it did suprise me, I absolutely devoureddd this book and am so glad I immediately started it after book 1 tho I will say it has mildly ruined me sleeping the last few days cause I’ve just been reading it non stop lol
Oh only other slight criticism is that the beginning is idk if slow is the right word but considering that the first book it’s fairly clear from the beginning what the book is gonna look like, this book was way way less clear and it kinda threw me off and I can see some ppl DNFing it at the beginning because of that potentially

This felt like it took me forever to finish it, even though I was enjoying it (set aside that I didn't read at all for 3 days). I do wish the plot and the characters were balanced better. As I felt the plot was 3/4 of the book and getting to know the characters were 1/4 of the book.

All that said... I DID enjoy it. Even got myself a physical copy of it with Pango Books credits.

Ronan is my favorite of the leading men 😍

It was nice seeing Asterion again and I have hopes that he'll be one of the leading men in the next book! (Which I already have pre-ordered)

Not me nerding out at the end of Fiends, because they live in the Forest of Dean now!! Be still my loving BBC Merlin heart.
