Another great story in this series! Loved the main character and how she grew, also adored her harem of monsters and the different personalities. With a reverse harem it's easy for the characters to start feeling one-dimensional or similar, but that was not the case. And the smut wasn't the full plot, there was an actual storyline with stakes for the characters.

holy cannoli.
before picking up kathryn moon’s tempting monsters series, i asked myself why aren’t there more monster why choose romance books out there? and now i know. because kathryn moon has the corner on that subgenre. the world she’s created, the monsters she writes, and the spice she wields? i'm pretty sure there's no getting better than that. i am still sweating, days later. (but real talk if you have more recs, please slide in my DMs or comment on this post and i will be forever in your debt)
the company of fiends picks up the plot from rooksgrave but gives it some fresh new direction — our half human FMC is one of the longest-running actresses in that sexy monster theater we learned about in rooksgrave. cue spotlight on your exhibitionist kink.
this one has a thousand times more plot than rooksgrave, and a murder mystery one at that. it dovetails in nicely with the overarching birsha plot from the previous book, with some fun cameos from our favorite monsters, but stands on its own as its own story in a meaningful way.
i enjoyed this a lot, and think it’s probably better technically than rooksgrave, in terms of writing and plot and mystery and intrigue, but i wasn’t attached to hazel’s monster love interests the way i was in rooksgrave. hunter is everything, of course, and so is ronan, but the others i was less excited about.
it took me awhile to get into this one, and i wasn’t sure if the theater was interesting enough for me personally to keep my attention, but i warmed up to it fast.
monsters include: orc, demon, fae, a gegenees (had to google this one), and the gemini. that’s all i’m going to say about him.
kinks included: all of ‘em. LMFAO. truly there’ll be something in here for you. i don’t even know the names of half of what i was exposed to in this book, i just know i liked it.
running to kathryn’s basilisk book while i anxiously await the third one to drop.

I was mesmerised by the first book in this series and I’m not regretting reading the second one.
Kathryn Moon creates a perfect balance between plot and smut. While the smutty scenes are heavenly erotic and radiate consensus at the same time, the plot is full of suspense and romantic entanglements. I love how she creates a female main character who is both strong and fierce, and wicked and sex-loving. I feel a strong connection to her, more than in other novels in this genre.
If you loved the first book, I bet you’ll love the second one as well.

As a second book in a monster romance series I was pleasantly surprised by how much the story line differed from the first book. So often within this genre I find that series a generally the same step-by-step story with different character names and subtle changes, this was a great tie into the first book without being a repeat!
