The Italian and Irish mobs control all of New England until the proverbial Helen of Troy comes between them. As with the original Helen of Troy, this one too starts a war between two "clans" and destroys the lives and peace of the community. We are given a look into the inner workings of the mobs, the tug between the old leaders and the young bloods. Excellent story.

Engaging and fast-moving novel of Irish and Italian mobsters in Providence RI in a zero sum game for control of labor and shipments in the late 1980s. Made better by the narrator's RI/Irish sounding accent.

Decent crime story. Really a 3.5 for me but rounded up. I’m a Don Winslow fan. First of a trilogy; I’ll read the next one.

[b:City on Fire|57558287|City on Fire (Danny Ryan, #1)|Don Winslow|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1623665316l/57558287._SY75_.jpg|88607411] Excellent start to the trilogy. Don Winslow tells a great story to set up the next book nicely. I am sorry he has retired from writing novels but I appreciate all the great reads he has given me.
