I devoured this audiobook! I loved the first one even though the first one was so dark. I had no clue how Glyn and Kill would end up in a relationship, especially after how those two started, but there were so many twists and turns. In this one, we follow Creighton and Annika, and we get to see this one start in the previous book because she would not leave him alone, and Creighton is Glyndon's cousin. She just annoyed him every time she got the chance, but we got to explore that more in this book. We were starting to set up a fake dating scenario because Annika's mom promised that she wouldn't let the Bratva force her into an arranged marriage if she had someone she loved, but even though it was a massive thing at the beginning of the book we lose track of that really fast. This one was a different kind of darkness than the first book. This one was more BDSM and family issues, but I still enjoyed this book, and it had a lot of shocking moments. But ultimately, I liked the first book more. I can't wait to jump into the next book because I'm curious how Jeremy's book will go, and I really hope Bran gets his own book!

Okay so quick notes, I don't love the pet name. The kidnapping part essential but weird. Other than that I think I like this couple/ book a whole lot more lmao. Annika my beloved how did I ever think I don't like you as a character. What an icon. Her gaining a backbone and truly doing what she needs to do makes adore her. I'm really glad to turn over my impression of her. (Now I need Ava's book to do the same lol) Idk if it's actually true but the dialogue feels way less jolty and kinda more proper to the character. Creighton! I find him fascinating. He makes himself not care but I think he cares so much. Remington actually stays my favorite character lmaooo He's everything to me
Also love how much he cares aboht Creigh and Anni. The fact hes the only one that get her and still cares about her even when hes mad? An icon for real. Eli, my guy hes so interesting and i adore his sibling relationship with Creigh so much. I don't think I love the parents pov tbh. I feel like if we communicated more lmao, but yeah I like that a role model to the type of love the kids want. But maybe it's just me but the way they kinda make the kids competition for attention or like get possessive of their wives' time, it's weird. Like thats your child dude. I don't enjoy that really.  Like it makes sense in character it's just like not a thing enjoy. Honestly slight critique it does feel like halfway I was reading a different book. Like the buildup of their relationship was fascinating and kinda sweet and it derails so hard lol. I like the second half don't get me wrong but like it's so different. But yes I do enjoy this book and the grumpy/sunshine tag is actually correct for the couple

god where do i start. i came into this prepared for the mediocre writing but somehow the dialogue was even worse in this book than the one before. i can usually push through and it takes a lot for me to DNF a book but this was just unbearable aside from the side characters and i ended up skimming most of it

“I was always meant to break Annika Volkov. I just didn't know I'd be the one broken instead.”

I was so excited for this one because I was a big fan of Creighton’s character in the previous book - but there were some things that happened that stopped me from loving it as much as I had hoped. :(

When I first started the series I was hoping that Annika would be a softer character whose strength was displayed in her kindness and understanding of others (but that was a pipe dream because RK seems to be incapable of doing that). I am not a fan of the whole “introverts need to be fixed by extroverts” mentality that was spewed throughout this novel, and Annika making rude comments about Creighton’s reluctance to talk made me dislike her.

Annika could’ve shot Creighton in the shoulder or something to subdue him (since she’s supposed to be a perfect shot) but instead she chose to shoot him in the chest? And then people were surprised when all of his cousins and friends were upset at her because of it? I understand that it hurts to have all of your friends turn against you & I also understand why she chose to save Jeremy (I sympathize with her feelings in that regard) but then — when Creighton acts as though she chose her family instead of him — she seemed surprised that he thought that she was placing her family above him? Which I just? 😵‍💫

I had to trudge through the ending of this book. There was too much going on and too many shifting emotions. 😭

Annika is Creighton's obsession. He isn't about to let her go, until a secret from the past may rip them both to shreds.

Tropes: grumpy/sunshine, BDSM, sadism/masochism

HOLLY GUACAMOLE!!

This book took me by surprise! I wouldn't have imagined that Creighton would sneak into my heart and occupay a place there. I was caught off guard by his possessiveness and protectiveness to Anni, but also by his sweet moments. Also, ladies be prepared, because he has a dirty mouth.

Annika is the definition of purple. She is fun, talkative, beautiful, and she builds her own strength with Creighton's help.

The twist in this book are PHENOMENAL, and even if you try to predict what might happen next, they will blow your mind. Some of them left me speechless, but others even made me cry.

Now let's talk about the other characters.

Glyn and Kill didn't really appear in the book that often because "they had business".

Ava still avoids Eli, but she's just as strong as she was in the previous book.

Cecily is still swet and seems innocent but I think she caught someone's attention?? 👀

Brandon is wonderful and a true friend.

Remi is still very hilarious and made me laugh so often.

Landon and Eli remained hot, except that I have something to add about Eli. But yes, I still claim that Landon and Eli are mine.

Eli really took me by surprise in this book. From Creighton's perspective we see another side of Eli, which made me instantly fall in love with him. I devoured every moment he spent with his brother.

This book is full of action and emotions that will leave you breathless at the end.
