Every person in this book was an idiot. And there were missed opportunities for connections between characters left and right. Finally, the bad guy explaining what was going on went beyond absurd in this book.

A low 3 stars maybe even 2.5. it was mildly entertaining although I agree it didn't age very well. I wanted more from the characters but was an ok read

Why, why, why does MHC write a strong female character who ALWAYS falls in love and ALWAYS gets rescued by a love interest?

Overall, it was nice to get back into a Mary Higgins Clark book. An earlier look at some reviews had me guessing this was one of her early works. I believe it. The writing was a little disjointed at times, almost like a bullet-point list. The set up was a bit long, and the ending too fast. Ultimately it was a quick, enjoyable read that had a satisfying conclusion, but not one that I would feel compelled to re-read or recommend to anyone else to read.

"Whilst in Washington investigating a Senator, Pat Traymore finds herslf back at the old house where she suffered a horrifying experience as a child. As her search for truth unleashes powerful forces, it looks as if the present may turn out to be even more " (From Amazon)

A good mystery.

Started off well but lost steam half way and then picked up again last third of the book.
I liked Pat’s character.
The intrigue was slow.
Difficult to keep be invested

Mystery is not my usual genre, but I read this book many years ago and really enjoyed it. I recommend it for political junkies, because there is a heavy political component, or people who live in the D.C. area. (They will recognize a lot of the descriptions of people and places in D.C.)
