I thought people were exaggerating when they said the book is better than the show but my god bran I didn’t think your chapters could get worse. Jon and Dany I love you

I was skeptical going in since I'm not a big fan of the fantasy genre and this seemed like a big time commitment (so many books, so little time!). After my book club decided to read the first two, I decided to go for it. I'm glad I did. I've heard that Martin gets bogged down in his descriptions. Perhaps that's the case in later books but I felt like he gave just enough description in this book. I never felt like skimming the page to get to the good stuff again.
