Some of the episodes laugh out loud funny. Other bits dragged. Polar opposite to the Wodehouse I read a couple of days ago. Different ends of their respective careers doing very similar things on comedic writing. Someone who knows and cares more than me should write a book on it.

Chapter 6.  I just can't read, let alone listen, to this.  Moving on.

His middle name is Klapka. Just as funny in the set pieces and character interactions as Three Men in a Boat, but not held together as well, and the digressions on the German character aren't as good. Very witty, but not very quotable as the humour takes several pages to build- made it hard to relate to Lucy what I found funny. I should try to read some more of his books. "Hitherto, the German has had the blessed fortune to be exceptionally well governed; if this continues, it will go well with him. When his troubles will begin will be when by any chance something goes wrong with the governing machine."

Nowhere near as enjoyable as Three men in a boat. It lacked the same punch and humour, although there were a few amusing passages
