I feel like the series really hits its stride with this one - an absolute classic. The games, the sands, finally putting a name to Doom’s face, all of it just Works.
I really do love the concept of the shifting sands… absolutely horrifying, so so many layers of absolutely horrifying, and yet also oddly Plausible to a degree some of the more fantastical guardians haven’t been. Which, of course, just makes it more horrifying. 10/10

I am reading this with my step-brother in order to make him read anything at all and I am enjoying myself. I like that in this book we did not need to kill a monster and we tried a different concept, even though the concept was a bit weird. I also liked the whole tournament arc.

All in all a great installment in the series and I am excited to see what is next.

Same structure as the previous books and I think I get it now. Have an adventure, meet new characters, a few little twists and links to other parts of the story and then right at the end- find the next stone. Still good and I'm rather enjoying it.

I really enjoyed this concept and the end boss was a lot of fun to figure out!

I thought everything tied together really well and it was nice to see him having to rely on things he learned to make it through. I liked how he misinterpreted the sign and had to face hardship rather than walking in, defeating the boss, and walking out with the gem.

There were some pretty cool plot twists as well!

As usual, I also liked figuring the puzzles out myself before it was explained and they really add the extra oomph to the joy of reading. I like how she writes and I'm really enjoying the series as a whole!
