I am not sure that I understood this book enough. To me, it was an exposition on suffering and the imagination of a life that her sister did not have. I want to re-read it.

Hmmm, this book is very tricky to review and I do not have the words to do this justice. I also think in order to fully appreciate the quiet and subdued beauty of this book, you have to be in a particular mood.

But what everyone can categorically agree on is this - Han Kang can write. Her prose is layered, musical, haunting and very affecting - so much vivid imagery and poignancy which left me with goose bumps.

I loved the first half of the book; not so much the second - and I'm not entirely sure why.

I would definitely like to re-read this again as I feel that possibly because I wasn't in the "right" mood, I didn't end up loving it but I can see why this would have a profound and lasting impression on many.

Dieses Buch ist formal eher experimentell, da es aus vielen kleinen Fragmenten besteht. Ich habe dadurch keinen richtigen Zugang zum Werk gefunden. Schade, denn thematisch ist es durchaus interessant - aber letztlich eben zu artifiziell.
