I really had no expectations with this book, and I think that's the way to go into it. Know as little as you can and just enjoy the ride.

I didn't really find my groove with it until the second quarter, and I didn't actively enjoy it until the last quarter. The writing was gorgeous, I found it so easy to picture all the characters and the scene and the atmosphere so well. Loo was a consistently good character the whole way through, and I really connected with her. Hawley was very tough to like and understand, and I really didn't think his character development was realistic. The plot drags quite a bit, and it's absolutely a character driven novel.

I enjoyed it, but I didn't love it.
