I remember not liking Sesily much in the prior books she was in, but this one definitely redeemed her. She and Caleb’s banter was great and I liked her relationships with the other women in the book. The main drawbacks for me was the ending feeling very rushed and the middle feeling a bit repetitive.

Well writte Historical romance! I love the way the females are written.  They are smart and strong willed even though they love their men. The book flowed well and the conversation was well done. Sesily is apart of a team of ladies that secretly punish men that behave badly in high society.  While she is on a mission she runs into Caleb Calhoun, the man she has been in love with for the last couple of years. Caleb has been asked to Spy on Sesily by her very pregnant sister and his best friend. He knows whatever Sesily is up to is dangerous, but he worries that his secret will put her in more danger.

It’s definitely your classical romance historical fiction. Light on the historical part. Great on the romance and smut part. I probably could take more of that but I was happy with what I got. It’s very lighthearted and an easy read. I enjoyed the characters and would love for some of the side characters to have your own story. Definitely recommend his romance book.

Wanted so badly to like this, since the concept is pretty great, and I'm a big fan of Sarah MacLean. However, if there's one thing I hate, it's when the brooding male love interest is paired with a firey woman who will not take no for an answer and he ends up trying to fall on his sword to "protect her". It's sadly predictable for a book written in 2020, and I personally felt so indifferent to their relationship I was practically bored and even decent banter couldn't save it.

I love a bisexual queen who fights for justice in regency regalia! Caleb was pretty dreamy too. I tend to prefer the conclusion of McLean’s series’ as I think the first does a lot of world building BUT she’s still top of the genre game IMO. So fun to finally read Sesily’s story!

This is my first historical romance read, and I honestly enjoyed it more than I thought I would. If you like stories of women taking down men who go unpunished for their crimes and abuse, you’ll likely enjoy this read! It wasn’t 5 stars for me because while this is the first book in the “hell’s belles” series, there is a lot of focus on Sera and Mal’s characters and relationship, and having not read that book from a separate series I felt like I was missing vital information about the relationship between Sera and this book’s hero, Caleb. That could be viewed as my fault for not researching before picking out this book, but I thought I’d be good to dive in since this is a separate series. There was a learning curve for me in reading historical for the first time, and having this extra level of confusion just made some parts of the book seem slow and unnecessary. But still, a GREAT read. And while I don’t know if I’ll go back and read books from that other series, I’ll definitely continue the Hell’s Belle’s series.
