The last hundred pages of this book and the sea wolf society worldbuilding were very cool, but did not make up for the rest of the novel's dragging narrative. I was also increasingly frustrated with the (very toxic) relationship between Miranda and Rose, and felt that the way the author used character emotional breakdowns was overdone. Overall, not as good a story as its predecessor.

4 stars. I need book three immediately! To be honest, I started this series thinking it was going to be a duology but with the way this one ended there will definitely be more to come and I cannot freakin’ wait. This series is just so cool and unique and I loved the direction the author went with the plot in this one.

However, I’m still not on the Rose/Miranda bandwagon. Seriously, where is the chemistry between them? It’s nowhere to be seen and I don’t buy that they even genuinely like each other. It’s bizarre though I am still very much obsessed with Miranda and think she’s a total babe. Rose was such a hot mess in this book and I found her to be so infuriating with all of her crying (so much crying!) and whininess. Why the crew voted her to be captain will never make sense to me and I’m forced to believe that they all low key have a death wish or something.

I digress. I was still very much entertained and enthralled with this sequel and despite Rose being a pain, this was better than book one. This series is great so far and I cannot wait until the next book.
