This book was my first ever DNF. I read Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass, but couldn't do Sylvie and Bruno. It was utterly bizarre in a world of expected bizarre. I just couldn't do all the jumping around. I enjoyed a lot of the poetry, but not all of it was great and I skipped around through the last of the collection as well. I guess I like structure and discernible plots more than I thought!

I adore this story so much ❤️❤️

Read after watching Alice Through The Looking Glass film. I think I had read Alice in Wonderland before but not the whole compilation. Through the Looking Glass is very different story to the film but I think the first film used some of the stories - eg painting roses, chessboard etc. Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum don't actually feature in first book. I much preferred Through the Looking Glass as a book - some wonderful wordplay, lyricism and imagery. Whimsical and enjoyable. Definitely recommend reading with John Tenniel's illustrations.
