This whole series, but particularly Book 2 and Book 3, have redefined the genre of historical romance. MacLean has reset the bar. And it's damn high.

Gah this series is just perfect. Brazen is still my favorite but Grace is such a badass and I loved Ewan’s redemption and utter devotion to her.
Graphic: Child abuse, Sexual harassment
This is the last of the Bareknuckle Bastards books and it is certainly a fitting end to their saga. Grace is the legal daughter of the Duke of Marwick though not his blood. Since she can't be the heir, he brings in three of his bastard sons to compete for the title, leading to some unintended consequences.
While I generally like Ms. MacLean's books, this one is not one of my favorites. Ewan and Grace don't really seem to fit, more lost in a nostalgic haze from miserable childhoods not worth the sturm und drang in their current lives. Ewan has done some unforgivable acts, yet lust seems to make it all fine for Grace.
It's a good read, but I hoped for more. The ending (no spoilers) really saved the book for me.

A worthy conclusion to the Bareknuckle Bastards trilogy, though I do wish I had read it as opposed to listen to the audio. Justine Eyre is great but I don't think she was the right narrator for this book. She makes everything sound like it's the end of the world. She has a lovely voice but the reading made Grace sound petulant, rather than the bad-ass I know her to be, in my opinion.

The third and final book of the Bareknuckle Bastards is finally here and does not disappoint. It's full of angst, sensuality, tension, action, revelations and of course an awesome HEA. This book was different of the first two of the series, more serious. Ewan and Grace had a past, a tragic one. There aren't many funny scenes, but we have more sensual ones. The big scene towards the end (not this one, the other one) is so amazing and we see just how much (if we had any reservations left after all) Ewan loves Grace.. The Duke of Marwick must be rolling in his grave. I'm looking forward for Hell's Bells next year.
