Years ago, Grace, with her two brothers, left her father’s estate. They left another brother behind. Thing is, the three boys really are brothers but they are not related to Grace. Ewan, the brother left behind, chased them out and got the title of Duke for his future.
Grace, Devil and Beast (the other brothers) made their way to London. There, they slowly built a good life for themselves in the slums. Reinventing herself as Dahlia, Grace has become the Queen there. She rules with a kind heart but can never love. Ewan’s betrayal has ruined her forever.
The Ewan returns as the Duke. Dahlia’s world is turned upside down and she must decide if she loves him or hates him.
Opinion
I cannot help but love this series. This book in particular is breathtaking. Grace and Ewan are still in love with each other but neither are willing to give up their positions. Ewan chased Grace away. Grace cannot go back to being the innocent girl she was. With each chapter, I was pulled in more to their story. The love, loss and betrayal between the two is consuming. This was the perfect way to end this sweet series. Oh, and the ending? It will totally blow your socks off. Great book!
Much thanks to netgalley.com for providing me with an ARC of this book.

This one suffered the same fate as the previous book. The plot/conversations/scenarios all seemed very similar to the first book, but lacked the angst and chemistry.

Tatlı ve çok sıkmayan bir roman. En azından deprem oldu olacak paniğini önledi

I went into Daring and the Duke pretty skeptical of how MacLean could earn forgiveness for her hero after all the misery he caused in the last two books of the series. I was waiting for some good groveling. I'm not sure she delivered entirely, but I still devoured this book and adored the heroine. Adequate grovel, great female lead- I will take it. 4.5 fun and very steamy stars!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my unbiased review.

Ewan loved Grace from the moment he first laid eyes on her. She was the secret his father kept, the secret Ewan would do anything to protect. Even if protecting her meant he would have to let her go, knowing she w0uld hate him for it forever.

Hate him she did but that didn't stop her from loving him. Loving him didn't stop her from pushing him away.

I had a hard time getting into this but once I did, it was a compelling story.

Not a fan of this one. I found it pretty boring to be honest. I also didn't quite buy the redemption of Ewan. Most of this story is characters remembering the past so there's really nothing much going on in the present. And like another reviewer pointed out, how is staying in the exact same spot for 20 years counted as being on the run?

But there's one particular point that kind of infuriated me. "And I know that women who don't wish to have children don't have to have them." Um, hello. This is the early part of the 19th century here. Abortions were not safe and legal. Contraception was expensive and hard to come by. Women got pregnant all the time and were forced to keep their children. I allow a little leeway when it comes to historical details in historical romance fiction, but this is just beyond.

I LOVED THIS SO MUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH!!!

- Lovers to enemies to lovers.
- Redeemed hero who actually puts in the effort to change and tries to right his wrongs as best as he can.
- So much built resentment and you can actually BUY into their being enemies because there are real reasons and 20 years of history.
- She kicks his ass at one point.
- The chemistry between the two is undeniable.
- TALL HEROINE. This good ma'am is 6 ft tall and we love to see it.
- He's a duke who know how to get his hands dirty, and she owns a street empire her and her empire have built from the ground where she is in charge of women's clubs where women come to take the pleasures that were exclusive to men!!!!
- FOUND FAMILY!!!!!!!!!

Grace has been forced into hiding all her life. Born a woman and deemed a mistake, her father hid her existence and forced his male bastards to fight for her title. After 20 years in hiding Grace, now known as Dahlia, is now able to live freely, or so she thought. Now her childhood love turned adversary, Ewan posing as the rightful heir of Marwick, has returned to London, and is searching for a wife. Grace must decide what to do with the maelstrom of emotions she still has for Ewan, all while her empire in Covent Gardens is under threat of attack.

In the third book of the Bareknuckle Bastards series, we get a good look at Grace/Dahlia and Ewan/the Duke of Marwick. Sarah MacLean does a great job of drawing the reading in and utilizing her well-developed characters from previous series. Every time I pick up a new book in the Bareknuckle Bastards series, I find myself wishing I had re-read all the previous books so I can lose myself in the series. Like the other books in this series, this is bound to be the historical romance pick for the summer of 2020.

The ARC is provided by the publisher via Netgalley for an exchange of fair and honest review. No high rating is required for any ARC received.

I've really liked Maclean's feminist take on the romance novel. This book challenges a lot of them while dancing inside the genre. Between highlighting social class, sex workers, and finishing off with a long con redemption arc, this novel was a fun read, if a little prose-y.
