An excellent finish to the series, and one that managed to turn around Ewan much more successfully than I would have thought possible. I do hope she starts to mix the romance formula up a little more in the next series, as having read them all in close succession the similarities to previous books started to get obvious. That being said, I still enjoyed this a great deal.

“There was nothing in the wide world like his laugh.”

What a beautiful and heart wrenching end to this series… seriously had me wondering how Grace and Ewan could be together. They are definitely my favorite couple out this series in terms of the amount of angst they have to overcome. I’m just speechless at how engrossing this book was and I’m in awe of Maclean and what she accomplishes in all of her books I’ve read so far.

Please, publishing gods, grant me an ARC of this book as an early birthday present! There is no possible way for me to wait until June 30th, I will combust!

The publishing gods did NOT grant my prayer for an ARC (*sniff sniff*), but I forgive them because this book was SO GOOD. I have never read a book with such a tall order before. Sarah MacLean had to rehabilitate a confirmed Bad Guy, build a heroine from the ground up, show us how all of our old faves were doing, and then somewhere along the way have the MCs fall in love? I admit, there were points during the course of this reading that I feared I would have to downgrade my rating from 5 to 4 stars because it seemed like the tasks to be accomplished were being ticked off as part of a checklist, and I was missing the *feeling* between the MCs. I was tracking and correcting previous misconceptions about their past, but I couldn’t see a future, or even pinpoint whether I wanted them to have a future. Then, around 80%, Sarah MacLean started breaking down all of my misgivings and weaving the complex parts of their story together in a completely heart-wrenching way, like the absolute expert she is. She obliterated their past and wrote a future that was too beautiful for me to even hope for at the beginning.

Anyway, stop reading this review and just read the book. Bye!

I feel like my biggest gripe at the moment is the seeming introduction of a new big bad in the last 30 or so pages of the last book in a series? Did I miss something? Other than that I really enjoyed it. Ewan is a hard sell, but his arc worked for me.

Great conclusion to the series! I loved the other 2 more but still pretty wonderful
