I did not love this one as much as Brazen & the Beast (book 2), but I still enjoyed this one. This one was a bit *too* angsty for me, even though I understood why both Ewan & Grace had to work though like a million feelings before being together.
I loved all the moments between the siblings though. There was a moment at the end where I literally set my Kindle down so I could laugh because it was great.

after waiting so long for this book to come out and then to get to me, I was worried that my expectations would be too high and it would fall short. Let me just say, this book did not fall short in any way!
Grace is everything I dream of in a heroine. she is unbelievably independent, she’s strong, she surrounded by other badass women, and her love for Ewan doesn’t outweigh her desires. Don’t get me wrong, I believe both Grace and Ewan go through changes in this book in order for them to fall back in love together, but her changes never compromise her wants or desires which is so important to me!
MILD POSSIBLE SPOILERS COMING UP! Ewan’s grovel is more than enough for me, as he technically has been making reparations for 20 years and then some more when he finally gets back to covet garden. I especially love when there’s even a line about putting him in cold storage for 20 years to make up for what he’s done (gotta love that fated mates and IAD reference)! Not only that but the part where he is hauling ice in Covent Garden for me seemed to knock him down a peg and allowed him to return to his roots of where he came from. It put him on the same playing field as the others who lived there and I found it deeply satisfying (and painful) reading about him getting beat up by the people of the garden. I also find that because everything he has ever done has been for Grace and because of Grace, even some rather questionable things like locking Devil in the cooler and nearly blowing up Hattie, I found it was easier to stomach knowing he did it not because he hated Devil and Whit but because he saw it as punishing them for letting Grace die (as he thought she had been dead and he had left her in Devil and Whit’s care). END OF SPOILER!
this book is everything and more and Sarah Maclean has done the impossible: she’s redeemed a villain that in all honesty should have been irredeemable. I went from hating ewan to loving him with just a few pages. not to mention the fact that Grace is now tied as my favorite MacLean heroine with Callie!
if you haven’t read this book or series I highly recommend you get on it!

I read the first few chapters of this book, did not like it. But I decided to give Sarah MacLean a second chance, since the characters were well-written and the backstory was interesting, both very good things. So, I read the first book in the series, The Wicked and the Wallflower. I enjoyed that book, and went on to book two, The Brazen and the Beast, which is my going-away favorite in the series. I started this one again, got to the same part of the story and didn't like it for the same reasons as when I started it. Not wanting to DNF the book, I decided to give it one more chapter. That chapter ended and the next chapter said "one year later" and I decided to give it one more "one more" chapter. I'm glad I did, as this book follows the fated soulmates trope and gives a character a redemption arc I would not have thought him worthy of in a previous book. Incidents mentioned in the previous books are explained from different a character's perspective, and changes those incidents. It is by far my least favorite book in the series, since it has less of the courtly intrigue I liked about the first two books, but it is very interesting.
4.5/5 stars
This was so good!!! The connection between Ewan and Grace was so strong, and it was such an emotional and wonderful romance. The smut was also *chef's kiss* and I just had so much fun reading this book. The only slight issue I had was the first half felt a little slower, and I wanted more content with the two MCs.

Had high hopes for this book - I do love a villain who happens to be solely motivated by love, and a good redemption arc - but sadly this book did not deliver. Found myself scanning large portions of this one, and wishing Grace and Ewan would just communicate better which would've solved so many of their problems.

Not my favourite of the series but I did enjoy this one as I am a sucker for second chance romances and I love a good redemption story. Now that I've read all 3, I have to commit to the second book as my favourite but I still really enjoyed this series overall!
The second-chance trope doesn't set well with me. I get very impatient with all the reminiscing. But I loved getting a chance to visit with Devil & Felicity and Beast & Hattie again and appreciated the strong women characters and that the hero, not the heroine, gives up his social status in this one.
I really am surprised Maclean was able to successfully redeem Ewans character. I knew this book had to happen in order to tie a bow on the Bareknuckle Bastards story but I think I was almost 70% of the way done within the book when I started sympathizing with him. Hattie is by far the best heroine, but this book was a good ending to the trilogy.
Omfg I’m emotional this series was too good. Definitely a bit repetitive and cheesy at times but kind of exactly what I was needing as the year winds down and I just wanted something twisty, steamy, and sweet to get lost in. Listened on audiobook from the library and honestly will probably re-read in book form - especially book two bc Hattie and Whit are everything !!
