Well, this is disappointing. The description made it sound interesting but absolutely nothing happened for the first half of the book. Not gonna waste my time.

This is a dark and atmospheric fantasy novel about moving to a castle in a small Irish town, otherworldly entities and danger both mundane and supernatural. The writing style was very lyrical. Dark and grim, with lots of death and gore. We follow a pair of lovely sisters who have such a close relationship, willing to sacrifice everything for each other. Their dialogue did suffer a bit from in-jokes and weird tangents that obviously made sense to the sisters but not only did it baffle their family, it also baffled me without knowing the history. This was so atmospheric, I haven’t read many books that take place in Ireland but they always are full of luscious descriptions and, though misty and gloomy and dark, easily envelops you.

Trigger warnings – animal death/animal pain, grooming/abuse relationships.

Lovedddd this. Scratched the itch for a dark, witchy book that I always have.

I loved this witchy tale - just the right level of sisterly snark and witchy weirdness.

I loved the atmosphere of this book! Such a great read, with awesome, witchy vibes. I read it almost straight through.

I'd like to like this book more but it's really difficult. Caitlin is so unlikeable that you don't have anything to root for her.
