This story was a slow burn getting to the falling in love part, but the characters were so engaging that the reader could not help but fall in love with the protagonists. The villain of the piece, rather than being a person, was a circumstance, though that did not hold other characters back from making some serious mischief. Ms. Reid writes such emotional scenes that I, as reader, could not help but cry. After I finished the book, I felt emotionally wrung out, but in a good way. There was enough humor and pathos to make a good story a great one.
