The Ash-Born Boy

Much stronger than its counterpart. The world is so interesting, it’s what I enjoyed most in the Near Witch, and I enjoyed it being expanded upon here! Definitely see Cole/Will as a sort of proto-Kell, which is fascinating. I’m glad this short story was added to the original story because it lends the whole book a new depth!

Maybe it was because we already know and love the character, but this was a much better and fun read than the book.

I liked the Novell better than the full book.

3.5 I am now even more excited for the sequel.

I think I actually liked this little novella story better than the actual story.
I found Cole to be a very interesting character and I wanted so much more information on him while I was reading The Near Witch. I wish that I had read this novella as a prequel, prior to reading The Near Witch. I think it would have added to the novel so much more. Will was a tragic and interesting character and I loved being able to see how he became Cole.
