I would recommend this only if you read and absolutely loved The Near Witch. William is a much less interesting protagonist and his demeanor is very unsympathetic, no matter how much he has gone through.

A nice prelude to a bigger story, full of intrigue and flows like an old fairytale.

The kinda prequel to the Near Witch. Misunderstood teen, magical powers, social expectations...it was also a good read.

It was interesting to see the back-story of Cole/Will. I was glad to have an understanding of the tragedy from which he came to Near. Good stuff! 4.5 is the true rating!

I was completely satisfied with Schwab's conclusion to The Near Witch until I read this prequel! Now that I see there are other places dotting the vast Moor I wish to visit them all and meet others who control elements this instant!
