Charles Dickens ya nos advirtió en 1840 de los peligros de la ludopatía.
I think the moral of this book was that old people suck, & if it wasnt then Dickens shouldnt have written it like that.
My opinions on The Old Curiosity shop are a little scattered! I enjoyed it, and genuinely laughed out loud a few times while reading it, but I dont think I would have been as lenient with it if I didnt have such fond associations with Dickens & his other works.. I thought Nell was cute & not nearly as unbearable as many people claim she is, but I wish she had been ruder/had a stronger personality (I think it would have been much funnier if she was). Dick was very fun, though for my own well-being I just pictured him being an early 20-something frat boy rather than a grown adult man. Grandfather hit a few bad beats with me, I didnt like how Quilps poor wife was constantly the butt of everyones jokes and could never catch a break, the story completely lost me a few times & Im just not a fan of the trope where a very nice character is framed for various horrid things, but thats all my beef with the book! On that note: Kit rulez, I wish Dickens wrote girls as well as he writes his nice funny street lads
